The Arizona Cardinals are in first place in the NFC West. They have the best record in the NFL at 10-2 and yet no one outside of Arizona and is talking about them or giving them love, why? Head coach Kliff Kingsbury has his team thriving on both sides of the ball.
The Cardinals have a record of 7-0 on the road. In those games, they are averaging 33 points per contest, and they defeated their opponents by 10 points or more. Quarterback Kyler Murray missed a few games with injures and came back with a vengeance. Murray had 4 total touchdowns against the Chicago Bears leading AZ to a 33-22 victory. James Connor could be the most underappreciated running back in the NFL. The former Pittsburgh Steeler has 14 total touchdowns on the season. There are 7 players on this team that have over 20 catches on the on the year. To paraphrase sportscaster Dan Patrick, “With this offense, you can not stop them, you can only hope to contain them.”
One of the biggest surprises this season has been Kingsbury’s defense. They are ranked top 10 in almost every category.
Defensive Stats:
- Ranked 5th in total yards, 334.4.
- Ranked 4th in passing yards, 205.1.
- Ranked 4th only giving up 18.7 points per game.
- Ranked 4th in 3rd down efficiency.
This is not a team that we are used to watching under Kingsbury’s leadership. They are clicking on all facets of the game, offense, defensive, and special teams. They have done with injuries to JJ Watt, DeAndre Hopkins, and Murray. This team is a legitimate threat to win the Super Bowl and their man on the sidelines should win coach of the year.
