It’s time for All American to let Spencer James bow out with grace. With news this week that he won’t be a focus in Season 7, his ending has to be done just right. And what better way than to go out as a Super Bowl champion and an engagement to Olivia Baker?
While there are still 2 more episodes in Season 6, the only thing the writers should focus on is the wedding between Spencer and Olivia and letting our favorite All America walk into the sunset with his wife. That’s it, that’s all we need. We spent 6 seasons watching Spencer hurt, grow, get shot, find, and lose love only to get things right with Liv and then live out his dreams. Nothing else needs to be done here.
Fans were in heartache as Spencer was passed over in the first round of the NFL Draft but if you followed the entire arc of All American, I guess it made sense in the only way they know how.
Spencer James came up in South Central where many black teens won’t make it past their 21st birthday. But he did that and more. He found a place at Beverly High, took on a new family and friends, and found that his life was with living. Spencer did not become another statistic, he beat the odds. So what else can the writers do with his character besides give us more heartache? We didn’t come this far to see more obstacles for him to overcome. Those days should be over.
Right now, what we want to see is he and Liv make it to the altar, hopefully with a baby bump. Then, from there, Spencer appears to be on track to pick up where Billy Baker left off. Maybe return to Crenshaw High and be a coach or go the counseling route. Either way, Spencer James deserves a happy and drama-free ending on All American in these last few episodes he will be featured in.
As for Season 7, we’re pretty sure his name will be mentioned more than a few times. While his presence will be missed, the Spencer James aura is all over All American.
Grace is moving full-time with her husband. Dillion is in school in Boston living his best life. The James family made it. They all beat the odds that were stacked against them. Let them go out with style and smiles. Cause we all know, that with a stroke of a keyboard, these writes can get messy quickly. For the love of the All American and Spencer James fandom, let him have his moment in the sun cause truthfully, he more than earned his Victory Lap.
