Alijah Arenas, the son of NBA legend Gilbert Arenas, has officially committed to the USC Trojans led by Eric Musselman. The young Arenas has long been one of the premier high school basketball talents in the nation. He currently attends Chatsworth High School in Southern California where he is averaging 31.8 points per game, 4 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals a game.
Alijah is a 6’6 shooting guard who is wired to score from all spots on the floor. Playing at a local public high school has forced him to command a lot of attention from opposing teams and all he has done with that extra pressure is thrived.
Arenas is a 3-level scorer who plays with poise well beyond his years and is only improving as a facilitator. After officially reclassifying in early January from the 2026 junior class to the 2025 senior class, Arenas became one of the most sought-after guards on the West Coast. Eric Musselman actually coached Gilbert for a season in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors, so this move made too much sense.
Musselman also has a track record of producing 1-and-done talents like Nick Smith Jr, Anthony Black, and Moses Moody. USC runs a 5-out pro-style system so look for Alijah to walk in and play from day 1 alongside Wesley Yates. Musselman recently made a remark about not having homecourt advantage due to a lack of fan support, but getting a dynamic player like Alijah will surely change that for the better. The Galen Center in the 2025-’26 season will be must-see TV.
