The Patriots began their offseason program this past week at Gillette Stadium. As players walked into Gillette the players used to see a sign that read “Do Your Job.” That sign is now gone and the walls are freshly painted. There is a more vibrant and relaxed vibe at Gillette Stadium with Jerod Mayo in charge now. We’ll see if they can turn it into winning some football games on the field, but for now the vibe is good at Gillette.
Gillette Stadium Is Freshly Painted
Mike Reiss wrote last week in his Sunday column for ESPN
The buttoned up tight-lipped Bill Belichick is gone and a new fresh era begins. Belichick won six Super Bowls but didn’t evolve with the times especially when it came to developing a quarterback. It was time to move on and have the young voices in the organization be heard for once.
Hunter Henry is excited and spoke this week about how Jerod Mayo’s energy is helpful and Mayo can see from the player’s perspective too.
The fans can say whatever they want. Belichick thought about himself these last few years even going back to the Malcolm Butler benching in the Super Bowl. Yeah, they won the Super Bowl in 2018 with a great defensive effort and a last-minute drive from Tom Brady. But what Belichick did to Mac Jones in 2022 and 2023 was all about Belichick.
Jabrill Peppers is even liking how Jerod is able to connect with the players.
As Kraft said he knew Jerod Mayo was going to be the next head coach. It probably would’ve been better to move on from Belichick after the 2020 season because now they are three years behind. It is what it is at this point and here we are.
I’m looking forward to the new era at Gillette Stadium with Jerod Mayo and Eliot Wolf.
