Fans left Spider-Man: Brand New Day with tons of questions but one of the top 3 has to be, what happened on Staten Island between Spider-Man and The Punisher? The jokes were made throughout the movie and you could tell by their chemistry, whatever happened, was monumental. But will we ever know?
We know that Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place before Avengers: Doomsday and it appears it takes place after Daredevil: Born Again. Which has me wondering. Since The Punisher will not get another show and a new Spider-Man movie is not coming out for a few more years, could there be a chance that we will get a throwback scene of Spider-Man and The Punisher in Born Again Season 3?
While Spider-Man has yet to make an appearance in any of the MCU TV shows, there is a good chance that Marvel may have an ace up their sleeve for the final season of Born Again.
Think about it. Frank is cool with Daredevil and both he and Spider-Man are in the same timeline at the same time. And let’s not forget that Matt Murdock did make an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter’s lawyer. So, we do know that they have crossed paths before.
And with Murdock helping Peter in a bind, Peter might be willing to return the favor which brings Frank into the story. What if in Born Again, Spider-Man and The Punisher comes to the rescue of Daredevil only to have a classic fight break out in in which Spider-Man does save Frank’s life on Staten Island.
I’m not saying the writers in the MCU are perfect, however, just one mention of Staten Island can be overlooked and forgotten in the script. But whatever happened became the longest running joke in the movie even to the point that MJ got involved. The writers made a point to reference Staten Island too many times for us to just ignore it.
There has to be a moment where we get to see what happened and the only logical place for that to happen has to be in the new season of Daredevil: Born Again.
Another key factor to tie them to Daredevil is that in a reported deleted scene from Brand New Day, it was actually Claire Temple the Night Nurse who helped keep Spider-Man’s identity a secret as he was wheeled into the hospital after being shot saving Jean. All the clues are there for us to get an answer as to what happened on Staten Island between Spider-Man and The Punisher. But then again, this is all the hopeful dreams of a fan.
