Will The Toronto Tempo Make The Playoffs?

The WNBA’s All-Star festivities will take place later this month, and before that, teams will have a chance to improve their record. The Toronto Tempo will take on teams such as the Dallas Wings, the Las Vegas Aces and the Minnesota Lynx before the break, and they can secure some wins during that time.

Toronto is one of the league’s new teams, and making the playoffs would be a success. The Golden State Valkyries did it last year, and this year, they are even better. Golden State finished the season with a record of 23-21 last year, and that led to a series against the Lynx.

When it comes to the playoffs, the top eight teams of the league make it. The Aces and the Lynx are on top of the league, and teams like the Valkyries, the Wings and the New York Liberty are not too far behind. Toronto is a fringe team, and getting some key wins could put this squad over the top.

Toronto’s Losing Streak Continues

Currently, the Tempo are under .500, but not by a significant margin. They have lost their last three games, and the most recent was a loss to the Valkyries. Isabelle Harrison was Toronto’s leading scorer, and she finished that game with 24 points. Then, Marina Mabrey, the Tempo’s All-Star, had 11.

Harrison and her teammates are trying to get back on track, and if that does happen, a playoff appearance is within reach. The Eastern Conference has some solid teams, as four of them are .500 or better. The Tempo are close, and the Chicago Sky and the Connecticut Sun are significantly below .500.

The Tempo have a shot at the postseason, and regardless of how the season plays out, they are headed in the right direction. Their core is playing well, and as time goes on, Toronto will be a team to watch out for.
