Avengers: Doomsday will be more brutal than anything that the MCU has ever done. Remember the scene when Natasha let go of Clint and sacrificed herself for the Soul Stone? How about when Thanos threw his favorite daughter, Gamora off that same cliff for the same stone? What about when Iron Man took the weight of the world on his shoulders and did the unthinkable?
While these are some of the scenes that stung Marvel fans in Avengers: Endgame, those same fans and new ones should expect more. How much more? Way more in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The reason is that if Marvel is set to reset, deletions are in order.
With the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, plus Thor, Doctor Strange, Hulk, and the rest of the originals, that means we will see more death. Yes, some may be expected, but that doesn’t mean it won’t hurt any less.
Will the Russo Brothers be able to capture the raw emotion of losing Black Widow or Iron Man? Probably not, but we should go into both films expecting the unexpected. Think about what we know regarding the movies so far. While Thanos was the best villain we’ve seen to date in the MCU, what Dr. Doom is adding to the catalog will make the Thanos snap look like child’s play.
Thanos wanted to destroy, but in a calculated type of way. Doom, he wants to crush everything in his sight. This is where tears will flow. With so many characters set to make an appearance, the Russo Brothers will have a plethora of heroes at their disposal. But most importantly, they have to find a way to make it bigger than how they ended the story arcs of the originals. That’s how we know we will see the destruction of some of our favorite Avengers.

There is another Captain America already. As much as we all love the Evans version, there is a good chance this will be his last appearance. He’s already defeated Thanos, then lived a life, so what’s left for him? Thor is in the same boat. He’s had a long MCU run. Much the same way that Iron Man did.
Killing Hulk will be a bit harder, and with him still tied to other storylines, there is a slight chance that he makes it out alive. With the Timeline being twisted and characters joining from other dimensions, not everyone will survive. Is Marvel going to continue with the original X-Men cast, with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden, who all make an appearance in the new trailers? No way they can continue with them, so they may very well meet their demise in Doomsday.
MCU fans definitely have close ties with some characters, and others, well, they are just collateral damage, but how will the OG fans feel if they lose the original Captain America? Will any be weeping if they lose the God of Thunder? While the MCU is just getting the X-Men and Fantastic 4, these comic fans have still built some level of closeness to them over time with the other studio. That’s the reason we’re getting the older characters back. It’s all bout banking on the nostlgiala.
What we’re set to experience in Avengers: Doomsday will be 10x more personal than what we got with Avengers: Endgame, and rightfully so. At some point, all this has to end, and we need to move on. Yes, it will be hard, and it will cause great debate and even some heartache along the way. But when the dust settles, there is a good chance tears will be flowing, and characters will be mourned.
