This past Sunday, while pro football fans were watching week 2 of the NFL, I was at my job keeping up with the games online and anticipating the late game between my Jacksonville Jaguars and the San Diego Chargers.
After the Jags, played a closed game in a losing effort to the Packers, I was hoping that they would learn from those mistakes and come out with a win on the road.
None of that happened, in fact it was a flat out embarrassment.
The Jaguars got thumped 38-14 and it was a poor performance on offense, defense and in coaching. The particular coached who got outcoached was none other than Gus Bradley. Bradley has been the team’s head coach for going on four seasons and his record in that time is a robust 12-38. That record is the worst record of any NFL coach who has coached a minimum of 50 games.
Think about this for a moment, the NFL has been around for close to what, 90 years and Gus Bradley has the worst record in the history of this league.
And yet, he is still employed by the Jacksonville Jaguars for reasons that are unknown to me, Jags fans or anyone who can do the math and see that Bradley should no longer coach this team.
There have been excellent articles written by the folks at Big Cat Country (a part of SB Nation) that have laid out the lunacy of Gus Bradley still being employed by the Jags. I recommend this article by BCC writer Zach Goodell on the time is right now for a change. But I am just amplify what those articles have said.
We have three plus years of evidence to show everyone that Bradley is not a good NFL head coach. While the front office for the Jaguars have upgraded the talent-level on both sides of the ball, Bradley has not improved as a head coach. He is making the same mistakes as he did when he was a first year coach and now is wasting the talent on the team with his poor decision making.
At a certain point, Jags owner Shad Khan has to check the loyalty at the door and make what is an easy decision, remove Gus Bradley. Otherwise, as long as he is the head coach, the Jags will be sharing the same AFC South basement with the Titans. And no Jags fan wants that.
ONTO THE PICKS
–Cardinals over Bills
* It was good for the Cardinals to bounce back after losing to the Patriots in week 1 with a convincing win over the Bucs last week.
Is it safe to say that the Bills are playing for their season this week? If they start 0-3, Rex Ryan’s seat gets turned up to 400 degrees up in western New York.
–Dolphins over Browns
* I want to wish a safe recovery for Browns wide receiver Corey Coleman as he is recovering from an injury. I know it is something of a punchline but when will the Browns have some good luck?
–Ravens over Jaguars
* I am working on a reverse jinx so the Jags can win this week. Also, as I am typing this, it is 7:56 pm on a Thursday night and Gus Bradley is still employed with the Jags.
– Broncos over Bengals
* I think the Broncos defense can put the clamps on the Bengals offense and the Broncos can score just enough to give Denver the win on the road.
– Titans over Raiders
– Giants over Washington
* I said that despite the Giants spending money on free agency last off-season, the team was still deficient in that area. And yet, they are 2-0 on the strength of their defense. Goes to show what little I or anyone knows about anything.
– Packers over Lions
– Panthers over Vikings
* With the game being in Charlotte and given the events that took place there this week. I don’t want to say anything football related but just this: Stay Safe Charlotte and keep fighting for justice and equality.
– Bucs over Rams
* The last time the LA Rams scored a touchdown was 1994. That is all, thank you and good night.
–Seahawks over Niners
* I want to take the time out and thank Colin Kaepernick, Richard Sherman and Doug Baldwin in continuing to push the conversation about African-American deaths at the hands of the police. Thank you, gentlemen.
– Kansas City over Jets
– Steelers over Jets
* This week, we get to see Carson Wentz play against a solid defense in the Steelers. We’ll see how he performs.
–Colts over Chargers
–Cowboys over Bears
* If you could not get enough of the Bears bad offense and Jay Cutler making his sulking, “whatever, man” face last Monday night, well you’ll see all of it on Sunday night. I don’t think people will be waiting all night for Sunday night this week.
–Falcons over Saints
* I don’t quite trust the Falcons as a team yet but Matt Ryan has played very well in these first two weeks of the season. I do know the Saints are bad so hence I am taking the Falcons on the road yet I have a bad feeling the Saints will play well and somehow win this game. Such is life when dealing with the Falcons.
