After a rough loss in Norman the Michigan Wolverines get back on the field looking to bounce back strong. We can look at the points left on the field, mental mistakes, missed opportunities and hopefully learn from it. Now it’s about Central Michigan the last non-conference game ahead of the B1G schedule.
Matt Drinkall is the new head coach at Central after earning his stripes at Army. So, the running game will be a big focus for the Chippewas. They also use a three QB system, that isn’t a mistake it’s real 3 guys will have a shot under center. Look for Drinkall to use that Army upset over Michigan back in 2019 to attack the Wolverines. The two running backs hey feature are decent and not to be looked over.
Bryce Underwood is a freshman the hype, NIL money, social buzz is cool, dude is a freshman period. It showed on the field and sidelines last week in Norman now he needs a bounce back game. Sherrone Moore won’t be on the sidelines as he starts to serve his suspension. Hopefully one of his last messages was let Underwood LOSE! Given more time by his offensive line Underwood will have time to make plays, build confidence, grow as a leader. Chip Lindsey open up the playbook and see what’s under the hood baby!
Justice Haynes has been a strong back with back-2-back 100-yard games hungry for his 3rd. This is also another chance for this WR group to gel and settle into roles since we still don’t know who’s who. We wanted bigger plays this season from this Michigan offense and so far, we have gotten just that. Now mix in some good ole consistency.
The boy’s on defense are going hunting this Saturday. Shutting down the Central Michigan run game and forcing the 3 QBs to win the game and make plays. The front four will pin its ears back and make life brutal for whoever is playing QB. Injuries last week forced some new guys into action which could prove to be a benefit down the line of a long season.
Bottom Line
Michigan needs to establish dominance EARLY don’t come out the gates slow or trying to be cute. During conference play you don’t have a lot of the opportunities you get in these types of games. Guys need to step up and make the most of their time on the field. Take the handcuffs off of Bryce and let him play free football not try and be some robot-like QB.
This should be a double-digit win for the Wolverines where we get to see the depth hit the field and get experience. I see a 48-14 Michigan win. Until next week it’s all ways #GoBlue
