With two strong home wins so far, Penn State looks to get win number three and not get caught looking ahead to a white out battle with Oregon. Villanova comes to Happy Valley Saturday, and this PSU team needs to have a complete performance. What the hell are you talking about, Courtney? Yes, we are 2-0, but both games had issues that will turn into losses against the Ducks and all that talent. In one game, the passing game was rolling with a so-so running game. In the FIU game, the run game was on point with a suspect passing game. Get my drift? Nova is no pushover, as they are considered a very good FCS team.
Focus:
Coach Franklin needs the guys locked in from the opening kickoff and not having dreams of whiteout madness and ducks dancing in their heads. Look for Drew Allar to test the Wildcats’ secondary early and often to see what they are made of. As I mentioned, the pass game was just off in the last game, and another opportunity to get the backups in and gain valuable playing time that will pay off in the future when depth is tested, especially in conference play. The last chance to work the kinks out before things get real. We will want to be in tune on Saturday. It helps with throwing when your offensive line blocks the guys up in front of them. Give Allar time and let him cook, build the chemistry for future games. If you are one for betting, I would go Penn State big in this game, maybe a 66-17 type of game.
Final Thoughts:
Not a huge in-depth preview for this game, the reason why Penn State should win is simple: more talent, Strong overall play, and making Nova play for their mistakes when turnovers happen. Want to hit up a home game and not pay an arm and a leg? This is the game to go to, until next week when we really find out what this team is made of and if the hype is real. #WeAre
