The San Diego Padres have a record of 52-44 and currently occupy the last wild card spot. They are in second place in the NL West, trailing the Dodgers at the All-Star break. As the trade deadline approaches, it will be interesting to see if the Padres add another bat to their lineup or seek help in their pitching rotation.
Padres Jarren Duran Rumors
There are ongoing rumors about their interest in Jarren Duran from the Red Sox. The Padres could benefit from his batting, especially since the bottom of their lineup has been inconsistent.
No player and team have been linked as strongly as Duran and the Padres — and that’s without any knowledge of how the Red Sox intend to handle the deadline,” Passan wrote. “Roman Anthony’s emergence has put Boston in a position to float Duran and Wilyer Abreu in trade discussions, and whether it’s now or over the winter, Boston wants to use its surplus of bats to fill voids elsewhere.
“Left field in San Diego is among the biggest voids in the game. The Padres have tried eight players in left this season, and collectively they’re barely have an OPS of over .600. A Duran-Jackson Merrill-Fernando Tatis Jr. outfield would be a factory of dynamism that would be under team control through the end of the 2028 season.
AJ Preller is known for being aggressive at the trade deadline
Knowing him, he tends to go in that area,” shortstop Xander Bogaerts said after Sunday’s game at Petco Park. “I have a couple years here, and we’ve had some nice additions towards the break and throughout the deadline. So, hopefully we have another nice one.”
Padres Have A Favorable Schedule

After the break, the Padres will travel to Washington, Miami, and St. Louis, before closing out the month at home against the Mets. It’s a relatively easy road trip, and they should finish the month strong as they attempt to catch the Dodgers in the division. I wouldn’t be concerned about the Giants; with baby Devers and their uninspiring manager, they seem to be headed nowhere.
The Padres had a record of 43-20 last year after the All-Star break and have the opportunity to replicate that success with an easy schedule coming out of this year’s break.
Oh, by far. By far. Absolutely,” Machado said. “Can we reinforce the team? Yeah. Everyone can. I think all 30 ballclubs want to reinforce. But we’re confident in this group that we have here. You know, we got pitchers coming back healthy, which is a big plus. We got guys starting to swing the bat. Yeah, man, we got the team that we had last year, and we’re ready for that second-half push.”
