Sinner’s has undeniably been one of the more successful movies of 2025, and why shouldn’t it be? With director Ryan Coogler and the helm, the talented Michael B. Jordan in the lead, and a supporting cast that fills every role to perfection, fans couldn’t help but be left wanting more and that’s the way it should stay.
Sinners doesn’t need a sequel, a prequel, or a spinoff. The whole concept of franchises is getting out of control these days and the appeal of this movie is it was so different from what has been released in recent years. On top of that, it serves as a different approach to a vampire film than what we’ve seen in the past, and not in the Twilight sort of way.

This was such a great movie written and directed so well that it hit all the right marks. Rarely does a sequel live up to the original so why force something just because it did well? Without spoiling the movie for those who haven’t watched yet, how would a sequel even work? Where would that story develop with how Sinners ended? Would you even care for these characters going forward knowing what was lost in the original film?
Here’s a small compromise for you. If you loved Sinner and what Ryan Coogler created, continue to follow the career of Ryan Coogler. He’s had success with Black Panther, got critical acclaim with Fruitvale Station, revitalized a franchise with Creed, and wrote an original take on the vampire genre with Sinners. If Ryan Coogler continues to have success and continues to leave you wanting more, then continue to support his future projects whether they’re a sequel to Sinners or not.
So far, he’s had a great deal of success and while he doesn’t have a large library, he seems to be choosing films he can be passionate about and tell stories in unique ways. He also seems to have found great collaborations with actors so far.
The old cliche in Hollywood goes, leave them wanting more and it’s something most of the industry has forgotten. Ryan Coogler has earned the right to do whatever he wants to with Sinners, but in the end, it doesn’t need a sequel. He should continue to find unique original stories and fans should continue to support him in those endeavors.
