The Boston Celtics Can Repeat

The Boston Celtics have a strong chance to repeat as NBA champions this year. They have retained the same team as last year and started the season with a win over the Knicks. With Wyc Grousbeck’s family putting the team up for sale, it’s clear they made significant moves to acquire talent last year. This wasn’t just to win a title, but because Wyc won’t be the one approving contracts when they are up for renewal. Another owner will be.

In Wyc’s view, it makes sense to go all out now and strive to win as many championships as possible before the change in ownership. The Celtics have a real opportunity to embark on a significant championship run.

The expectation is to sell the time in two parts with 51 percent going fairly soon, 49 percent then closing in second closing. That’s the expectation in 2028,” explained Grousbeck. “I’m planning or expecting to stay on until 2028. We’re going to hire bankers and advisers. This is going to be quite the bidding process.”

In today’s NBA it’s all about shooting threes. The Celtics are so dominant they tied the most threes in a game the other night.

“It was almost like we got jinxed or something,” Celtics forward Jaylen Brown said. “It was like when we were just playing, having fun, playing our style of basketball, everything was going in. And then once the crowd got into it and we started hunting them, we couldn’t even hit the broad side of the barn. Everything was off. We got a bunch of great looks, and it was like a lid on the basket.

“So that just shows, like, we’re not a team that’s hunting 3s. We play the game and we do what we’re supposed to do, but I think towards the end it was tough because we wasn’t playing the way we had normally played. But we still had a bunch of great looks.”

Three Pointers Are A Thing For The Celtics

It really doesn’t matter how many three-pointers the Celtics take they should dominate every night until the Wyc ownership is over. There might be a new dynasty team in Boston soon. Here is Mazzula on coming off a championship.

I don’t mean to discredit the past, but it’s not closure because the things that we replicated…we’re trying to replicate the process of winning. It’s not about the past from the standpoint of like the result. But what we do want to constantly focus on is the process of winning. We were able to get to the highest pinnacle of that by the way we played on both ends of the floor for a long, extended period of time over a hundred games. That’s what we’re trying to do now.

“It’s not about forgetting that. You just can’t stay attached to the result of that. But we should constantly be reminding ourselves of what we were able to replicate over the course of a nine-month season with our consistency, and our toughness, and the mindset that we have. That’s what we’re trying to build on. We just can’t get stuck in the result of it.”
