A new NFL football season is upon us, which means a brand new fantasy football season. My colleague and TeamNBSMedia.com Mark Wilson aka @BXReporter on Twitter aka X has already given his top 5 wide receivers and the top 5 running backs for the 2024 Fantasy Football season.
So I figured I’d jump in the mix and give you who I believe will be the top 5 quarterbacks this upcoming 2024 fantasy football season. However, my list is going to be without using numerical values. What do I mean? Do I have five top-level quarterbacks to list? Yes! Am I going to list them one through five or top to bottom? Not exactly. So, in word terminology, verbiage only here is my list of this upcoming 2024 fantasy football season’s top five performing quarterbacks.
Mr. Southpaw (sort of)
That’s right Tua Tagovailoa throws the football with his left hand but if you ask him to sign an autograph for you he will do so holding the pen in his right hand. Speaking of signing Tagovailoa just signed a massive contract to stay in South Beach as the franchise quarterback of the Miami Dolphins. There are too many critics trying to say he’s not worth that much money or that he hasn’t won anything like playoff games the Super Bowl or MVPs.
Trust Tua hears the chatter/slander and is preparing to unleash his full potential in 2024. It also helps to have three of the best wide receivers in the game Tyreek Hill Jalen Waddle and Odell Beckham Jr to throw the ball to. These three receivers can and will create havoc on all three levels of the passing game short intermediate and deep balls. Tua might just be the quarterback of the number-one offense in the NFL this year. That means lots of fantasy football points which is why I have him as one of the top five fantasy quarterbacks for 2024.
Mr. Greatness
That’s right I’m talking about the three-time Super Bowl winning three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. This is a no-brainer here. As long as Mahomes is in the NFL and throwing a football he will be in this top-five fantasy football quarterbacks list conversation. So, this year will be no different. Mahomes still has his on-field/ lockerroom best friend All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce. What is new and vastly improved is the Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers’ room.
First, they made an off-season trade for Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. Then they made a draft day trade to move up and draft Xavier Worthy who posted the fasted 40-yard dash time at this year’s combine. The Chiefs have reloaded their skill position weaponry. Now all the maestro Mahomes has to do is continue to conduct his offense like a symphony. The Magic of Mahomes will never wear or fade. He is a top-five fantasy quarterback with a lifetime membership!
Mr. Push
Last name Push first name Tush. Jalen Hurts is his real name and scoring one-yard touchdowns is his game. When it comes to fantasy football Hurts is one of only two quarterbacks to average over 21 points per game over the last three consecutive seasons. I guess you could also call him Mr. Consistent. Hurts isn’t just a running quarterback. He has arguably one of the best one-two-punch wide receiver duos in the league. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are the Batman and Robin of wide receivers.
With the addition of Pro-Bowl running back Saquon Barkley this Philadelphia Eagles squad is almost its own complete fantasy football team. Coming off a Super Bowl appearance where he faced off against the aforementioned Patrick Mahomes Hurts is a star on the rise. Hurts is a shoo-in to continue being a top-five fantasy quarterback in 2024 and beyond.
Mr. Sophomore Sensation
Last year C.J. Stroud was a rookie who came into the league and didn’t just hit the ground running. Stroud blazed through the league like a wildfire. He put together one of the best rookie quarterback seasons in the history of the NFL. He threw over 4,000 yards and had over a 4-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio and his passer rating was over 100. He was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year. This was not a fluke. Stroud will not be going through any “Sophomore slump”.
The Houston Texans went out and added one of the best fantasy football wide receivers over the last several years Stefon Diggs to help ensure he won’t. So, in his second year, Stroud has wide receivers Tank Dell Nico Collins and now All-Pro Stefon Diggs to pass the ball to. Stroud will be a top-five fantasy quarterback in 2024 ’25 26′ 27′ etc.
Mr. Multi MVP
Here we are the two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. He is no stranger to being named among the top fantasy football quarterbacks. Jackson is possibly the most gifted running/mobile quarterback in the game now and maybe ever. He is the ABSOLUTE definition of what a dual-threat quarterback is. He is a constant X-factor that defenses have to account for. Jackson has the same receiving options as he had last year with All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews as well as wide receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.
What will be different is now sharing the backfield with Jackson is All-Pro running back Derrick Henry. Adding “King Henry” to the run game will shift the balance of being able to commit as much to Jackson. Not only is Jackson likely to repeat as the League MVP but in doing so will also likely lead the fantasy football world from the quarterback position. He certainly will be in the top five fantasy quarterbacks in 2024.
There you have it my list of the top five fantasy quarterbacks for the 2024 NFL season WITHOUT a numerical order. These are the five most likely quarterbacks to be jocking for a position within the top five. All five of these quarterbacks will be taken off the boards of 98% of fantasy draft rooms by round four or five at the latest. If you can draft any of these five quarterbacks you’re likely to win a lot of games and potentially your league. Best of luck out there in fantasy football land this season.
