5 Questions with Trojans Wire’s Donovan James

The USC Trojans approach 2024 with new sights on even greater heights as the once-dominant collegiate football program looks for a new life as a member of the Big 10. With new additions to their roster and coaching staff, I sat down with my good friend Donovan James to pick his brain on the pressing issues and questions surrounding the men of Troy. Donovan has kept a close eye on the program and I would like to thank him for his insight.

With that being said…

Let’s talk USC Trojans football

Brock: Hello Donovan, thank you once again for joining me. USC has a big matchup to kick off their season, playing LSU in Las Vegas. If USC is able to beat LSU, what do they need to do to accomplish said feat?

Donovan: They need to stop the run first and foremost and protect Miller Moss so he has time to throw to these explosive WRs. If those two things happen they have a shot to win against a loaded LSU team.

Brock: Who are your favorite transfers and why?

Donovan: My favorite transfers are the UCLA guys John Humphrey and Kamari Ramsey.

Brock: How will D’Anton Lynn’s defense adjust to the Big Ten?

Donovan: I don’t think it’ll take them too long to adjust to be honest. The hardest part will be deep in the season with the lack of depth they have in the trenches.

Brock:  What’s the floor for USC in 2024?

Donovan: The floor is a disaster season with a 7-5 record, Riley might get canned if that happens but it’s kinda realistic.

Brock: Will Lincoln Riley win a conference championship in Southern California?

Donovan: I think he wins one in the next 5 years. I think he’s the right man for this job, I still believe in his staff and in his tenure, he will win one.
