As great as the All American Season 6 finale was for Spencer James and now Olivia James, it was a disservice to Jordan Baker and his fanbase in a way. Jordan had the tools to make the NFL but offscreen he suffered another concussion.
Jordan should be in the NFL with Spencer and as fans of All American, we get the point of him following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a coach. Much like Billy, Jordan’s career was derailed due to injury. But couldn’t the writers have given him his dream first?
Jordan never had dreams of becoming a coach. Not once was that even spoken of. So to have Jordan walk away from the game he loves and fans not being able to grieve with him was a bit unfair to the loyal viewers who have watched him grow for the last 6 seasons.
It does appear that he’s comfortable with the decision but we know, this is All American and there is no way the writers will just give him a happy ending like that without some turmoil.
There will come a point in Season 7 where doubt will start to set in. There is also a possibility that Jordan Baker may travel down a road that leads him into a deep depression. Although he still has football in his life, his dream was snatched away from him and viewers were not able to see that.
Will Jordan Return For Season 7 of All American
Another route the writers can take is the one they did with Asher. Asher had to give the game up but he was able to put the pads on one final time. Maybe they will give Jordan that final swan song. At least have him make an NFL roster.
Not sure if all American viewers can keep seeing Jordan wrestle with heartbreak. But it’s sure to come. He seems to be too calm at this point. And there is still a chance that he’s actually at peace with his decision but being the competitor that he is, a time will come when he wants it all back.
All American can also go the flashback route and show viewers exactly what happened. Due to the timeline, Jordan was already out of football by the time Spencer won a Super Bowl in his rookie season. Maybe there was a grieving point that he had to fight through. We just didn’t get to see it.
No matter what happened, Jordan Baker was robbed of his dream and loyal fans were robbed of a huge part of his character’s arc in terms of his football life. Let’s remember, this is what All American was built on.
