Respawn Entertainment keeps it interesting in season 21 of Apex Legends. With a new legend, tweaks to the maps, weapon changes, and more, this season is sure to keep gamers on their toes. Apex is always a little hit or miss with their updates, and this season seems to be rubbing players the same way. Here is what to expect.
The 21st season of Apex Legends hit the deck on May 6th, 2024, and with it came the arrival of a new legend, Alter. Alter, also known as YingLing Lui, is a skirmisher, with fantastic abilities. Starting with her passive ability, The Rift, which can remotely interact with a deathbox to claim one item. Void Passage is her tactical, and it creates a rift portal through any surface, into rooms, and behind cover. Alters ultimate is her Void Nexus, this creates a respawn point that teammates can use to regroup remotely from anywhere on the map. I think Alter is a lot of fun to play and helpful to have on your team, but she is super overpowered, and I fear she might be the next Nerf.
Also, this season, Solos have returned. After Respawn swore, it would never be back, it’s here, and people aren’t sure how to feel about it. Solos will take over Duos place until June 24th. Personally, I don’t like the change. It forces you to play with a bunch of random players, with no backup. Also, the game lobby is full of Master, Diamond, and Predator players, and just a sprinkle of us normal folk. And it can make winning seem impossible.
They’ve also made changes to the maps this season. The Broken Moon map has a new, galactic look to it now. The Kings Canyon and the World’s Edge maps are also on rotation this season. Tweaks have also been made to loot desert issues and hot drop issues as well. I think the map updates were done really well actually, so thats exciting.
As for weapons, the Devotion, Nemesis, Triple Take, Peacekeeper, Prowler, and Longbow have all received gold star upgrades this go around. And the Devoton will be a replacement in the care packages. I don’t think the Nemesis needs any upgrades, but hey, I’m not complaining.
Honestly, I am proud if the work they put into this new season. I am into the new style of the game play, and the attention to detail is a breath of fresh air from Respawn. I do really miss duo mode, so I am glad that is only a temporary change, but overall, 9 out of 10. Go check it out guys!
Until next time friends!
