Will the Green Bay Packers continue their QB trend and put Jordan Love on notice? This is an organization notorious for drafting QBs when they have one already leading the charge. Are we about to see a three-peat?
The Packers are not too sure of what to do with Jordan Love. He’s been with the team since 2020 and this is his first season as the starter. And still, he’s not shown enough for the Packers to say, he’s the guy they want to hand the keys over to. With Brett Favre still producing, they drafted Aaron Rodgers. Both QBs are heading into the Hall of Fame. Even with Rodgers in the midst of a stellar run, the Packers decided to draft Love. Neither choice went well with the current starting QB and here they are again.
Should the Green Bay Packers select another QB in the 2024 NFL Draft? That’s the million-dollar question. In his first season so far, Jordan Love has passed for 1720 yards, 12 TDs, and 8 INTs while completing 59.6 percent of his passes. It’s not terrible but it’s not screaming face of the franchise either.
Yes, his receivers are young but Rodgers made it work with the same groups of pass-catchers. He has two reliable backs in AJ Dillion and Aaron Jones so what’s the issue? This offseason, after Rodgers left for the New York Jets, the Packers signed Love to a 1-year extension. Maybe that was their way of showing faith in the 25-year-old or giving him just one season to prove his worth.
Will The Green Bay Packers Draft Another QB
Either way, Love has another 8 weeks to prove to himself and the Green Bay Packers that he’s the guy. If he fails to do so, then Green Bay will have no choice but to either look at the Draft or bring in someone else like Justin Fields or Kyler Murray if they are available. But Green Bay without a name QB, that’s pretty strange to think about.
For his career. love has gone 3-6 as fill-in and starter while passing for 2326 yards, 15 TDs, and 11 INTs while completing just 59.8 percent of his passes.
Yes, it’s added pressure playing for the organization but it’s no different than what Favre or Rodgers had to go through and bout always still being able to bring a Super Bowl title back to Wisconsin. Can Love continue that trend or will he be the next QB to walk out the door?
To place all the blame on Love is a bit unfair. He took over the Gren Bay Packers in the middle of turbulence. He was drafted while Rodgers was still at the top of his game which caused a stir and maybe added more eyes to the situation than need be. But here they are now. Can the Packers afford another season of missing the playoffs? Are they heading in the right direction with Love? But most importantly, is Jordan Love convinced he can lead the Green Bay Packers?
