First off congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles for beating the Dallas Cowboys. Mike McCarthy called his usual idiotic play calls yet again!!! He called for a quarterback draw when the Dallas Cowboys were six yards away from scoring the game-winning touchdown. What happened? Of course, the Cowboys had a penalty to put them back on the 11-yard line. First of all, why when you have a fullback on the roster are you running a QB draw? I’m so sick and tired of the idiotic play-calling McCarthy shows week after week. It would be best to have running backs on your roster that can punch the ball in when you are that close to the endzone.
Jerry Jones
First of all, why would you give Michael Gallup a five-year contract after he had ACL surgery? Then you repeat the same mistake with RT Terrence Steele? Why do you insist on signing your injured guys to new deals Jerry? This pattern is ridiculous and it’s a huge reason why the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.
I’ve written about this one before and I’m doing so once again. This is why the Dallas Cowboys lost a game they should have won. Jerry Jones insists every damn season the “We Love Our Guys.” This sentiment is echoed of course by the heir apparent to his throne Stephen Jones as well.
Sunday night we witnessed Terrence Steele struggle mightily against the Eagles pass rush. So much so that after the play that pushed the Dallas Cowboys back to the 11-yard line Steele was beaten so soundly that Dak Prescott was sacked. That of course led the brilliant coach McCarthy to not even have Prescott use two plays to attempt to tie the game. Oh no, Coach McCarthy went for the one last grasp instead.
This is all on you Jerry Jones. You hired McCarthy and even after two straight quick exits from the playoffs after seeing the Dallas Cowboys lose to San Francisco two straight times you kept Mike McCarthy. He’s another one of “Your Guys” another mistake you have made consistently since Jimmy Johnson was fired by you.
Dak Prescott gets no blame for running out of bounds when he attempted to score on the two-point conversion attempt. Not after he led the Dallas Cowboys for 374 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception again this season has been so much better for Dak Prescott.
I’m so sick and tired of this nonsense thrown at Dak Prescott. He can’t win the big game noise that’s out there in the land of sports media. He can’t win the big game with the product he has on the field with him. You cannot win in the NFL with guys coming back from injuries and not being truly ready to play. Gallup last year was a shadow of his former self and Terrence Steele has been this season as well. Yes, Terrence Steele is a very good run blocker but even before his injury, his pass-pro stats were less than stellar.
Maybe if Coach McCarthy was using his running backs properly then Terrence Steele would be used more in run blocking besides Zach Martin. However, yet again we saw that didn’t happen at the end of the game either as they went to the left side, and guess what happened? The Philadelphia Eagles stopped that play dead cold because they were waiting for that run and loaded up the right side of their defense.
This loss is on you, Jerry Jones. You and your guys’ attitude cost Dak Prescott this game and certainly didn’t help against the 49ers either.
Dallas Cowboys Draft
I usually give Will McClay the benefit of more than one season before shooting down his draft choices. Not this year. Mazi Smith and Luke Schoonmaker both played college football at “That School Up North” Yes. I mean the University of Michigan.
Now everyone knows I’m never going to cheer for anyone from that university and I was disappointed indeed that Jerry and Stephen Jones went with those two players. Mazi Smith has been okay for the Dallas Cowboys but why oh why did you draft Schoonmaker so early in the past draft?
If you had used your brains you should have drafted Darnell Washington who the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted 25 picks later. Washington could have been used to assist Terrence Steele on the right side. You already had Jake Ferguson who is an excellent receiving tight end. Why oh why did you draft another one especially since Coach McCarthy said he wanted to run the football more? 6’7 275 lb tight ends don’t come around very often and instead of relying upon a guy coming back from an injury in Terrence Steele, you could have had the blocking machine that the Dallas Cowboys needed.
Schoonmaker killed a drive earlier in the fourth quarter with a holding penalty. Now every player can have a hold on any play but it also didn’t help his cause when he failed to be in the end zone and that’s unforgivable for me.
This is the reason why I don’t believe in Jerry Jones involving himself so much as the Dallas Cowboys general manager. As an NFL owner, no one comes close to Jerry Jones. His brand is worth 9.5 billion dollars so in that regard he’s supreme. It when he makes “FOOTBALL” decisions is where my issue lies with Jerry Jones.
