I tend to not get into the training camp battles for positions on the 53-man roster. I am not a coach and don’t have any say in what the Dallas Cowboys decide upon the final roster. So when I see the videos and hear the reports from the various media types that cover the team I take most of them with a grain of salt.
Dallas Cowboys’ Next Sproles?
Deuce Vaughn is looking SHIFTY 😳
Dak Prescott (Cowboys QB) said that he sees Vaughn helping “immediately” on offense.
Vaughn was compared to Darren Sproles by many NFL scouts leading up to the NFL Draft.
Vaughn is currently listed at 5’5”, 176 pounds.

The videos are already out there for sixth-round draft pick Deuce Vaughn. He’s Deuce Vaughn, not Darren Sproles. Sproles might have been a great player as such an instant reaction is to compare the two players. I don’t like doing that to any player. Let’s see how Deuce Vaughn does when the pads go on for real in the pre-season games before we anoint him as the next Sproles.
This holds true for every draft pick the Dallas Cowboys have in their training camp. Demarvion Overshown is who he is going to be as a player, he is not another Micah Parsons. Let’s stop using the big names out there and identify them with these rookies.
Micah Parsons Hates Being Second
Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons asked his teammates — and himself — a fundamental question: "Is the price of discipline worth a lifetime of regret?"

Micah Parsons can upset any team he wants to. That includes the Philadelphia Eagles fans who were upset when Parsons said he feels the Dallas Cowboys are the best team in the NFC. There are reasons Ryan Clark believes the Cowboys’ defense can be the number one defense in the league and Micah Parsons wants to be on a winning Super Bowl team. I love the fact that Parsons is willing to say these things. There are no limits to free speech!!!

My only concern with where the Dallas Cowboys defense sits at the end of the regular season is just a nice statistic. I want the Dallas Cowboys to be playing in the NFC championship game and yes then in the Super Bowl.
The Offensive Line
While Zach Martin is sitting out seeking out a fairer contract (don’t worry folks he will be in camp soon enough and said so in a tweet) the rest of the offensive line appears to be set with Tyron Smith taking the left tackle snaps, Tyler Smith is the left guard while Tyler Biadiasz is the center. Taking snaps where Martin usually resides at right guard have been Chuma Edoga Josh Ball Matt Farniok and undrafted rookie TJ Bass. Terence Steele is the right tackle and once Zach Martin returns this group will be tasked with protecting Dak Prescott and opening up holes for Tony Pollard and the other running backs.
I have said all along I feel Tyler Smith has Pro-Bowl potential as a left guard and I am glad to see him at that position. Matt Waletzko is backing up Tyron Smith as the left tackle. The position so sought after by so many to sign a big-name free agent for the Dallas Cowboys looks good enough to me.
Dak Hits Thirty
Dak Prescott turns 30 years old today

All you haters out there can say what you want about Dak Prescott. He is the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and he turned 30 years old today. As long as he stays healthy (Please let that happen) Prescott will be the quarterback that must be able to do as he says this season to not have the same number of interceptions as last year. Of course, on the first day of training camp, he had an interception that yet again went off the receiver’s hands. I don’t blame Jalen Tolbert for that happening at all. I do blame the Cowboys’ collective fanbase for overreacting to what’s a standard play in the game.
The Secondary Injuries
Donavan Wilson suffered a calf strain and will be out of the lineup for 4 to 6 weeks. His replacement Israel Mukuamu followed suit and will miss time with a hamstring issue. My oh my it’s great to have depth in the safety room though. Markquese Bell gets a shot and the undrafted free agent from last year should be just fine and will be a solid safety in the NFL.
On Goes The Battles
Oxnard California will determine who stays and who goes from the Dallas Cowboys for the 2023 NFL season. Enjoy the battles and we’ll see if Neville Gallimore, Nahshon Wright, Jourdan Lewis, and my least favorite pick from three years ago Kelvin Joseph can find a way to remain with the Dallas Cowboys.
Find me on X @GregCowboys That’s really weird not saying Twitter anymore…smh
