The narrative around here lately is Mac Jones is not in the building going over the offense with Bill O’Brien. Radio talk shows Zolak and Bertrand and Felger and Mazz are pushing that Mac Jones is off doing his own thing away from the team because he is pissed about how things were handled last year. It started when Scott Zolak wondered if how much Mac Jones was working with Bill O’Brien to install the offense. He was hearing rumblings that he wasn’t in the building. Of course, Felger and Mazz ran with it which sounded offbeat reporters and Devin McCourty that counter that argument.
Devin McCourty Standing Up For Mac Jones
The most important voice in this whole thing is Devin McCourty who appeared on Good Morning Football on NFL Network. He is a positive voice for the Patriots who has Jones back and said “(Mac Jones) is in the building.
Felger and Mazz took what McCourty said with a grain of salt because McCourty is a speaker for the team and of course he will be positive about Mac. Honestly though how can anybody judge Mac Jones on last season because of the position he was put in by Bill Belichick. He had a promising rookie season and then was set up to fail in 2022. He’s in the building what more do you want?
Mac Jones Best Receiver In 2021 Is In Oregon Right Now
Kendrick Bourne is in Oregon doing his own thing nobody is talking about that. If you’re the quarterback going over the offense with your new offensive coordinator, wouldn’t you want your receivers with you? The argument of Mac Jones not in the building is stupid because he is working and getting ready for the upcoming season. I’m sure when we get into April and May it still won’t be good enough for radio talk show hosts who just want to rip him.
Even McCourty said they will get him Jones a receiver funny how Felger and Mazz believe that but not that Jones is in the building. Makes no sense. They obviously need to get him a receiver in free agency either trade for Jerry Jeudy, sign Slade Bolden who they worked out the other day, or draft one.
All The Elite Quarterbacks Have A Number 1 Receiver
Like I’ve said in previous articles all elite quarterbacks have a number one receiver except Patrick Mahomes who like Brady can make average talent around him elite. Joe Burrow has Chase and Higgins, Jalen Hurts has A.J. Brown, and Josh Allen has Stefon Diggs, who does Mac Jones have that is a clear number one? Jakobi Meyers is a two who they should resign, Kendrick Bourne is a two, Nelson Agholor is a three, and DeVante Parker (Matt Patricia signing) is a number two receiver. He needs a number one to cap it off and get rid of Agholor.
It’s just the beginning of March and why are we all bothered about how many times Mac Jones is the building. Can it just be good enough that he is and getting ready for the season? There is still free agency to get through before we even start the spring practices. I think people need to relax if it was in the middle of OTA’s that’s a different story but it’s March and he’s in the building. That should be good enough.
