They say COVID was the end of fashion. People went from caring about what they wore to worrying more about being comfortable and not wanting to have the hassle and stress of what to wear. Well to me the year 2022 proved that the rumors are NOT true and we saw people start to get it right and, get it tight when they stepped out. Being on TV or YouTube these things matter and you must show up and show out! It goes without saying that being good at your job and speaking with knowledge is important and all these folks do just that but, they also make sure when we turn on the TV or click that link we recognize their fit game is on point. With all that being said we introduce the 1st annual “Fit Awards” the people in the world of sports who handled their business and understood the assignment. In NO particular order our winners and ALL pictures are courtesy of their personal Instagram accounts.
20. Maurice Edu: Soccer Analyst Fox and CBS: My man came with the fire early and often suit game always fire and the shoes are not to be played with. Add the fact he is quickly becoming a popular voice in the analyst game as well.
19. Taylor Rooks: Turner Sports, Bleacher Report: Is it just me or does Taylor seem to just kill it no matter the environment? Dress it up dress it down Mrs. Rooks is ready to roll.
18. Jalen Rose: NBA Analyst ESPN: I try not to let my Michigan bias cloud my judgment on this one. First off as a man fighting his hairline respect to him for that and add in his fit game and we have a winner. He takes risks but most of the time ends up crushing it.
17. Alex Curry: Fox Sports: The undisputed champion of the pants suit and romper game. Others will come to study it and expect copycats in 2023. Not to mention in a world where we don’t smile that much she brings some great positive vibes we could all use.
16. Kate Ado: Sports Analyst: Talking with some of the best up-and-coming fighters in the world of boxing or breaking down an epic soccer match she is a pro. And when it comes to outfits and looks open the notes app on your phone and take some. Her run at the World Cup as host of World Cup Tonight was like Steph Curry when he gets hot from the 3-point line.
15. Ryan Clark: ESPN, Host The Pivot Podcast: This dudes style is smooth. He goes from Easter Sunday fresh to happy hour with the squad. Also having one of the best shows around doesn’t hurt either.
14. Joy Taylor: Fox Sports, Digital Creator: If you didn’t know already Joy has NEXT. Leaving the hot takes alone and going old school with facts and common sense who would have thought? When we talk fits she isn’t here for the fun and games fancy or chill her sense of style is top-notch.
13. Turron Davenport: ESPN NFL Reporter: DOPE is how I would describe his gameday looks. From the bowtie and always fresh kicks a lot of up-and-coming cats in the game are copying it and that says something. And like everyone on this list he is good at his job.
12. KJ Wright Memphis Grizzles Host/Reporter: Again it’s all about the versatility! Knee-high boots one day fresh pair of J’s the next and owning them both if you don’t know now you know.
11. Cassidy Hubbarth: ESPN Host and Reporter: It’s still straight Cass homie in the year 2022. From hosting her Livestream shows or leading coverage for a big game she is a star for this generation period. Her fit checks are a thing of legend don’t believe us just ask around.
10. MJ ACosta-Ruiz: Host NFL Total Access: Who said just because we are talking about sports we can’t come out looking fresh to death on the daily? Well MJ didn’t get the memo. Changing the game brings the flavor of the Dominican to a league that needs some spice!
9. Steven A. Smith: Host 1st Take, ESPN: Love him or hate him you can’t deny his suit game is official. The uncle everyone wishes they had.
8. Laura Rutledge: ESPN: What’s the saying if you do what you love it doesn’t seem like work? Something like that anyway, based on her social media Laura loves what she does for a living. Plus she does social media right with all her fun BTS posts and cooking videos WITH seasoning lol. On the fashion side, you gotta love it as well.
7. Alexis Nunes: ESPN Journalists: One of the first people we had on our list! Just has a fun personality and knows a thing or two about soccer. Her fits are always finished off with some crisp J’s and there ain’t nothing wrong with that. Jamaica stand UP.
6. Malika Andrews: ESPN, NBA Today Host: When you get people who aren’t hoops heads watching your show daily just to see what outfit you are wearing you know you have game. Being a badass host doesn’t hurt either and she is, along with the show being really fun and fresh. One thing is for sure she will always represent Oakland and keep her fashion game on 100.
5. Maria Taylor: NBC Sports: Name the sport she can talk about and drop knowledge her raise to the top of the business has been a fun watch. Her IG fit checks are a social media staple.
4. Elle Duncan: ESPN: Her trash talk online and pop culture references on TV are too funny, also love how she is NEVER afraid to put someone who is out of line in check. Don’t sleep on her fashion sense it sneaks up on you.
3. Ashley Shah Ahmadi: Bally Sports Hornets Host: It is not just LaMelo Ball who is talented in Charlotte. Asking interesting questions before and after games as well as deep dives on players and staff. Moving to the fashion side she is quickly moving up the ranks of the fit superstars keep an eye on her.
2. Los Gold-Onwude: She is FEARLESS in terms of fashion and is changing how sideline reporters dress for the job and that is a great thing. You never know which lane she will take.
1. Desmond Howard: ESPN College Gameday: His style is classic. A throwback to the golden era but he sprinkles in some new school and sets it off well. Real men rock scarves.
