If you’re anywhere in your late 20s or early 30s like me, then I can confidently say we all grew up with the Migos. Their first smash hit “Bando” came from their mixtape “No Labels II” to a Versace remix that featured Drake. The Migos somehow someway made an impact on your life in a positive way. Throughout this article, we are going to showcase the positive moments the Migos had as a group and individually.

Takeoff, Quavo, and Offset became the Migos back in high school when they decided to take rapping seriously. They’re from Lawrenceville, Georgia which is a suburb north of Atlanta. When you hear Quavo, Takeoff, or Offset say “Nawf or Nawfside” in any song, Lawrenceville is where they’re referring to. Once Bandos was getting recognized nationally, they broke into mainstream radio with smash singles such as Handsome and Wealthy and Fight Night, a single that was also on the mixtape No Labels II. From there, everyone in the urban community should be familiar with who the Migos are.

In 2013, the Migos dropped a record called “Versace.” It came out in an interview that this song was inspired by late rappers Tupac and Biggie. The song was so big that Grammy award winner Drake had to get a feature on this record. Everyone knows what that Drake effect does when he either features on a record or he wants you to be featured on his song. So it is safe to say, the Versace remix was the icing on the cake for the Migo’s career taking off.

The Migos then went ahead and dropped a project in 2014 called “Rich Ni**a Timeline” which had smash hits Wishy-washy, Cross the Country, and Nawfside. This album had no features and it charted 48th overall. From Rich Ni**a timeline, the Migos went and dropped Yung Rich Nation (YRN) in 2015, YRN 2 in 2016, and three more albums together as well as an album individually. Let’s dig into each one and talk about their greatness.

The Migos Dropped Culture in 2017 which got a lot of praise. Their biggest single off of Culture was Bad and Boujee featuring Lil Uzi Vert. Bad and Boujee still get play now in 2022, and is still considered one of the Migo’s biggest hit singles next to Versace ft. Drake. Outside of Bad and Boujee, Slippery featuring Gucci, and Deadz featuring 2 Chainz are hit singles off of culture.

After Culture dropped in 2017, the Migos are continuing their consistency and they dropped Culture II a year later in 2018. They had a few big singles off this album. One of the biggest songs to date from Culture II is Motorsport which features Cardi B (Offset wife) and Nicki Minaj. As we all know Cardi B and Nicki have an ongoing beef with each other. Cardi and Nicki never worked together up until this point. So when this record hit, everyone was eager to hear how this record would play out. It’s safe to say, the song was a hit regardless of how these two ladies felt. Culture II had hit smash Narcos, Stir Fry, and Walk it Talk it.

After Culture II, the Migos went ahead and dropped albums individually after rumors of them breaking up. Quavo dropped his solo album Quavo Huncho in 2018 as well as Takeoff as he dropped Last memory in 2018. In February 2019, Offset dropped Father of 4. Out of the three solo projects, Offset solo album did the best. Father of 4 talks about the three kids he had before his wife Cardi B, and how life before the fame affected his relationships with his children.

Offset also have a joint 10-song album with rapper 21 savage and producer Metro booming called Without Warning. The single off that album is Ric Flair Drip, inspired by WWE Star Ric Flare, who made an appearance in the music video.

The Migos went on countless tours and did shows globally together. From the United states all the way to Africa, the Migos was globally known and loved by millions.

After the Migos dropped solo albums, like everyone else globally, The Migos suffered during the pandemic with no shows or appearances while the world was on shutdown. That didn’t stop the group from recording and getting ready for Culture III. The rap group did a Tiny desk episode and performed three songs from the album.

Once the world started opening up, in 2021 the group went ahead and dropped Culture III. The album hit songs Avalanche, Straighenin, Type Shit (ft Cardi B), and Modern day. The album has features from the late rapper Pop Smoke, Juice WRLD, Polo G, Drake, Justin Bieber, and NBA YoungBoy.

This would be the last album the rap group had made together. After Culture III, it is been rumored that Offset left the group. It has not been officially announced, however, Takeoff and Quavo just dropped an album in early October called Only built for Infinity Links. Offset was set to drop his solo album after allegedly leaving the group for this year.

Quavo and Takeoff have been in interviews within the past couple of months talking about their new album, and what’s next for the Migos. At one point they were called Unc and Phew because Quavo is Takeoff’s Uncle. Although, Quavo did state they’re considered the Migos. Also, Quavo and Takeoff were asked in an interview if the three of them would come together and make another album. Quavo stated, “time will tell”.

The Migos Were Trendsetters

Well, as we all know on November 1st, 2022 Takeoff was shot and killed at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas. Takeoff’s passing left the world speechless as Takeoff was the least problematic member of the group. He was always quiet and to himself in his own little world. It is still unclear who the shooter(s) are, however, the case is still heavily under investigation.

The Migo family delivered a beautiful funeral celebration of life for Takeoff at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA on November 11th, 2022. The celebration was open to the public and all fans. Quavo and Offset posted their speeches to Takeoff and it was very emotional.

Takeoff, will be severely missed throughout his music career and personally. You always used to see all three of them together all the time. More so Quavo and takeoff were always together. As Quavo stated in his speech, Takeoff always followed behind Quavo.

Quavo hasn’t been seen publically since the funeral and Offset has been posting more on Instagram. However, you can tell Offset is very hurt, and it is all in his face. Offset wife Cardi B went live on Instagram  Sunday evening trying to cheer her husband up. You see Offset on his IG live looking like he just got done crying.
To the Migos family, we are here for you in your time of need. We are very devastated by the loss of Takeoff. He was a beautiful person inside and out. He was the backbone of the group and the gel to hold Quavo and Offset together. We wish you all nothing else but peace and healing to get through this loss.

We Love you Takeoff and we will continue to keep your name and music alive.

What will happen with the Migos next? A lot of fans are hoping Offset and Quavo can settle their differences and come together and make more music honoring Takeoff. Hopefully, that will be the case, but until then we will have to wait and see.
