Manchester City entered into this contest unbeaten in 14 games. That ended Sunday after Mo Salah’s crucial goal in the 76th minute put the visitors to bed. We saw from this game the intensity and passion Liverpool has missed all season. There was a more cohesive style of pressing and relentless attacks in spurts of the game. Obviously, with how great Man City has been playing, they were also due to have some big chances in the game. However, Klopp’s backline did a fantastic job holding Erling Haaland from scoring in this game. Haaland is still without a win against Liverpool in his career.
Manchester United Struggle At Home Against Newcastle
Two goals were ruled out to keep Manchester United from winning this game. Frustration has been a talking point for this side in recent games regarding their performances, both in the Premier League and Europa League. There seems to be no clinical finishing at times, and although VAR ruled out two goals, Marcus Rashford and Fred still had massive opportunities to steal the game at home late in the game. For what it’s worth, Newcastle, who has been solid all year, did just enough to secure a point and had a penalty shout of their own. In the end, both teams are still separated by a point in the table.
Ivan Toney Needs To Be Included In England’s World Cup Squad
After surrendering more possession, more shots, and more corner kicks, Brentford still managed to win at home 2-0. That was because of Ivan Toney’s brilliant performance. When a team is soaking up numerous attacks and pressure from the opposition, there needs to be an element of clinical finishing once the chance is brought forth. Toney provided that for his side, scoring a beautiful back flick and converting a 64th-minute penalty. Brighton will probably walk away from this match feeling they should’ve gotten more out of the game, as they still look solid without Graham Potter managing the team. A combination of Ivan Toney and Brentford goalkeeper David Raya ensured that.
What’s Going On With Leicester City?
There’s no creativity, and there’s no passion or belief. Yes, Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace didn’t create much, but receiving a point away from home isn’t a bad result. Vieira also isn’t under pressure compared to Brendan Rodgers. His side still sits in the relegation zone, with only five points. Saturday’s performance was followed with boos from the crowd after failing to show much during the match. Something needs to change quickly for the Foxes, or else Rodgers could be out of a job pretty soon. Although there isn’t much depth on the squad itself, we should still see some type of goal threat with the players Leicester possesses.
Leeds Show Why They Can Hang With The Big Boys
At times, Elland Road can be a tough place to journey to, even for league-leaders Arsenal. We saw a high-intensity-filled atmosphere in this game, with both teams playing with an attacking mindset in the first half. Both sides conceded multiple chances. After a mistake made by Rodrigo, Bukayo Saka rifled Arsenal in front.
However, as we’ve seen all season, Jesse Marsch’s style of pressing can cause any team problems in carrying out their game plan. Their countless attacks in the second half had Mikel Arteta’s side clinging to a 1-0 lead. It also took a missed penalty by Patrick Bamford to ensure that Arsenal won the game. Sometimes great teams need a bit of luck to help bring all three points home. This time, Arsenal needed that.
