The New York Mets head into June with a record of, 32-17. They are 8.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Atlanta Braves. New York is doing this without its top 3 pitchers. Max Scherzer, Tylor Megill, and Jacob deGrom are all on the injured list. Edwin Diaz has been dominant as the Mets closer. He has 11 saves and 38 strikeouts in 21 innings.

The offense is getting better as the season goes on. Francisco Lindor is 2nd on the team with 38 RBI’s and has walked 24 times. Pete Alonso leads the National league with 46 RBI’s. Luis Guillorme and Jeff McNeil are batting .355 and .317.

  • 3rd in hits, 8.8 per game.
  • 2nd in OBP.
  • 3rd in team batting average, .261.

New York swept the Philadelphia Phillies last weekend. Scoring 21 runs in three games. They continue to dominate the NL East. They are 16-7 against Philadelphia, Washington. and Atlanta. The Mets have a plus 54 run differential.

Buck Showalter continues to make all the right decisions. In the 9th inning on Sunday night against the Phillies, he allowed Nick Plummer, who was just called up from Syracuse to bat. Plummer rewarded the skipper with a homerun to tie the game. Eduardo Escobar drove in the game winning run, in extra innings. Escobar is batting .225 on the year.

Every player is contributing and believing in one another. This team is having a special season, and if they get healthy, they can win the National League.
