The Dallas Mavericks have won 8 out of their last 10 games. They are 5th in the Western Conference with a record of 40-25. They are 2 games Behind the 3rd place Golden State Warriors and 1 game behind the 4th place, Utah Jazz. Jason Kidd’s first season as the Mavericks head coach has been a total success. He is turning the team’s identity around. The Mavs are ranked 5th in defensive rating and only averaging 12 turnovers per game. That is 3rd in the NBA.
Luka Doncic is averaging, 28 points, 9.3 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Spencer Dinwiddie is averaging 18 points and 5 rebounds since coming over to Dallas in the Kristaps Porzingis trade. Jalen Brunson has emerged as a reliable point guard. He takes a ton of pressure of of Doncic. He is averaging 16 points and 5 assists per contest. Max Kleber and Dwight Powell are combining for 15 points and 10 rebounds per night. If Tim Hardaway Jr and Davis Bertans can give consistent outside shooting with Reggie Bullock, this team can be scary in the post-season.
The Mavericks have not made it past the 1st round of the playoffs since they won the title in 2010-11. This is a different team, with the Jason Kidd mindset. They are a sleeper team in the Western Conference. Do not be surprised if they make a deep playoff run, Kidd wins Coach of the Year and Luka takes the MVP Award. Here comes the Mavs…Are you ready?
