NBA Finals.
Game 1.
Tuesday, 9 PM Eastern Time.
ABC TV.
The Phoenix Suns will be taking on the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Championship. The last time the Suns made it to the NBA Finals was 1993. They have never won A Championship. The last time the Bucks won the Larry O’Brien Trophy was in 1971. Both teams had to overcome adversity to reach this point.
The Phoenix Suns ran through the Western Conference with relative ease. They beat the Lakers in 6, Nuggets in 5, and even with Chris Paul missing a few games, they defeated the Clippers in 6 games. This team is well-coached, each player knows their roles, and they never beat themselves. Devin Booker has proven to be a bonafide superstar in this post-season. He is averaging 27 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. Late in games, he the Suns closer, and when teams foul him, he is shooting 91.3% from the charity stripe. Chris Pual is the leader on and off the court for head coach Monty Williams. He is averaging 18 points and 8.4 assists in the playoffs. DeAndre Ayton could be the key to this series. He has developed into a reliable scorer and rebounder. Even on off nights, he will score 15 points and grab 10 rebounds.
For Years the Milwaukee Bucks fell short in the post-season with their two-time MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo. After sweeping the Miami Heat the Bucks defeated the Brooklyn Nets in 7 games and an injury-riddled Hawks team in 6. Antetokounmpo missed the past few games with a knee injury and they are unsure if he will be ready for Game 1. When healthy he is the ultimate stat stuffer. He is averaging 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists in the playoffs. Khris Middleton has averaged 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during their NBA Finals run. Jrue Holiday has been a decent 3rd option.
Prediction:
The Suns have been the best and the most consistent team in the NBA, since the bubble last year. There is a huge advantage in coaching for Phoenix. The Bucks are winning despite Mike Budenholzer. Finally, this is Chris Paul’s Championship to win, and Devin Booker will be named the MVP.
Suns win their first title in franchise history, 4-2.
