5 Things We Learned About Week 5:
5) The Carolina Panthers are on a roll:
The Las Vegas experts had the Carolina Panthers winning 5 games this season. I had them as my surprise team of 2020-21. I did not have them making the playoffs, but I thought they would win 7 or 8 games. The Panthers started the season 0-2 and they have won three straight games without Christian McCaffrey. They are getting better every week.
4) The New York Jets and Giants are 0-10 combined:
The Jets lost 30-10 to the Arizona Cardinals. “Gang Green” is giving up 32.2 points per game and they are scoring 15 points per game on the season. The Giants lost a heartbreaker to the Dallas Cowboys, 37-34. The TV ratings in New York are the worst they have been in over a decade and the Jets just released running back Le’Veon Bel.
Just
End
The
Season.
3) Drew Brees is done in New Orleans:
On Monday night, the New Orleans Saints defeated the Los Angeles Chargers, 30-27. Several times in the 2nd half, Sean Peyton took out Drew Brees and replaced him with Taysom Hill. This tells us everything we need to know. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Russell Wilson, do not come off the field for trick plays. Brees can still win games. but he is not an elite quarterback and the Saints are not an elite team.
2) Justin Herbert should win rookie of the year:
In 4 starts, Herbert is completing 68% of his passes, has thrown 9 touchdown passes, has 3 interceptions, and is averaging 298.8 yards per game. At times, Herbert has looked like the best quarterback on the field against Patrick Mahomes, Teddy Bridgewater, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees. Herbert led against Tampa Bay, Kansas City and New Orleans before losing in the 4th quarter in each game. The sky is the limit for this young quarterback out of Oregon.
1) Week 6 could be the best weekend in the NFL all season long:
Week 6 has some classic matchups. The Packers and Aaron Rodgers take on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Browns and Steelers face off in a huge divisional matchup. The Rams travel to San Francisco to take on the struggling 49ers. Monday night the Chiefs face the Bills and the Arizona Cardinals travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys. The Cardinals game should be an offensive shootout.
