This is going to be a season unlike anything we have ever seen or experienced. COVID-19, and social injustices continue to spread throughout the United States. Hopefully, players can stay safe and we can have a temporary escape on Sunday’s from this deadly virus.

5 Things We Learned About Week 1 In The NFL:

5) Is Kansas City better this year?:

The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers last season, 31-20 to win their first Super Bowl since January 11th, 1970. The Chiefs were due to return 20 of their 22 starters before guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and running back Damien Williams chose to opt out because of COVID-19. Kansas City opened their season Thursday night with an impressive, 34-20 victory over the Houston Texans. Rookie, Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed 25 times for 138 yards and a touchdown. Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and Tyreek Hill all caught a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes. This team should win 12 games.

4) Just End The Season:

The Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets, 27-17. This game was over after the first quarter when the Bills led, 14-0. Someone forgot to tell Adam Gase and the Jets that this game counted, it was not pre-season.

The Jets offense was horrendous. Sam Darnold was 21-35, for 215 yards. Frank Gore led the New York in rushing with 24 yards. Can you fire a coach after game 1? The Jets should. They are going nowhere with the incompetent Gase.

3) Baltimore Ravens dominate the Cleveland Browns:

Lamar Jackson was 20-25, for 275 yards and 3 touchdown passes. Marquis Brown had 101 passing yards, Mark Andrews caught two touchdown passes and rookie, J.K. Dobbins rushed for two touchdowns as well. The Browns got physically manhandled from start to finish. Baker Mayfield was 21-39 for 189 yards with 1 touchdown pass and 1 interception. This was an old-fashioned beat down. The Browns need to regroup rapidly as they play the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night.

2) Big Ben gets a week 1 victory:

The Steelers defeated the New York Giants, 26-16. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 226 yards and 3 touchdown passes. Roethlisberger had a rigorous rehab to get his elbow and body back and shape. If he can stay healthy, the Steelers have a great chance to make the playoffs.

1) The Pack is Back:

The Green Bay Packers finished 13-3 last season before losing to the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. During that time that has been a lot talk and action to replace Aaron Rodgers. The Packers drafted Jordan Love with 26th overall pick. Rodgers is not going anywhere. The future Hall of Fame quarterback was 32-44 for 364 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings, 43-34.  Devante Adams had 14 catches for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rodgers spread the ball around and is starting to believe in his younger wide receivers. He is playing with a chip on his shoulders and that is a scary thought for the rest of the NFC North.

Bonus Coverage:

The Arizona Cardinals upset the San Francisco 49ers, 24-20. Kyler Murray rushed for 91 yards and threw for 230.

Saints spoiled Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay debut, winning, 34-23.

Russell Wilson was 31-25 for 322 yards and 4 touchdown passes. Wilson could win the MVP this season.

Cam Newton got his first win as a New England Patriot. It was a 21-11 win over the Miami Dolphins. It is always better to win ugly than lose pretty.

The Washington football team outscored the Philadelphia Eagles 20-0 in the 2nd half and upset the Eagles, 27-17. Doug Pederson was 4-0 in season openers before losing to Washington.

The Bears squeaked out a win against the Detroit Lions, 27-23. Mitchell Trubinsky will keep his job as Chicago’s starting quarterback for at least one more week. Trubinsky has thrown 3 or more touchdown passes in 4 straight games against the Lions.

The Eagles blew a 17 point lead to the Washington Football Team. If the team in Washington can be consistent on offense, they could have a very good season.

Gardner Minshew went 19-20 and threw 3 touchdowns for Jacksonville. I thought they were tanking?

The Rams appear to have a better roster and a better coach than the Dallas Cowboys. LA defeated Dallas, 20-17. Was this a preview a wild card matchup down the road?
