This Red Sox off-season just keeps getting better. First, they part ways with their manager, do nothing to upgrade their bullpen, trade Mookie Betts and David Price, and now Chris Sale won’t be ready for opening day. That is not the way you want to start the season. With Price gone Sale is supposed to be the ace and having him not ready because he was sick at the beginning of spring training is wrong. It’s just a bad sign him not being able to pitch on opening day it’s like they’ve given up on 2020 and it hasn’t even started yet.
Sale is supposed to be the face of the pitching staff. Would Pedro Martinez miss an opening day start because he was sick during the beginning of spring training? I don’t think so. Pedro would never miss an opening day start especially when the off-season has been all negative. The fans want to see their ace on the mound all the Sox are attracting now is your retired 70-year-old in a recliner asleep watching the Red Sox game in the background. That is what they are attracting not one young person is going to pay attention to some no-name pitcher who they never heard of start for this team.
Sale being sick in my opinion is no excuse he’s better now and should start opening day. Give the fans something to at least cheer for I don’t even want to watch this team cause they’ve given me zero interest with what they’ve done in the off-season. Granted, I’ll still watch and keep up with what’s going on but it will be like watching paint dry.
