Dear Josh,
When you took the field earlier this season, many in the NFL community were excited to see you back. Seemingly without a hitch, you were making the spectacular plays we grew accustomed to seeing on Sundays, and it looked like the issues that plagued you for so long were finally a thing of the past.
Then, the news of your suspension broke and we were all disappointed. Of course, no one was more disappointed than you, I’m sure. Here’s the thing: you’ve come too far to give up now. Keep fighting, as there are still plays to be made—on and off the field. If you drop a pass, you can’t dwell on it, right? The key is to go back to the huddle and get ready to make a play when your number is called again. This is the case in life, too. Move on to the next play and tell yourself you have nowhere to go but up in 2020.
Don’t forget to use your situational awareness. If you have family and friends in your life who are encouraging you to seek help, listen to them. Surround yourself with people who are going to bring you up, not down. Like you, I am a father of a daughter and one of the things I value most is being a provider and setting a good example for her. Think about your daughter, Josh. She deserves to have you at your best.
Lastly, I want you to keep in mind that playing wide receiver in the NFL is a dream that millions will chase, but few will ever get to realize. Don’t waste an opportunity like that. At 28 years old, we should be reading about how great you are, not how great you’ve could’ve been. You have the opportunity to change this narrative, Josh. We all want to see you succeed.
Keep your head up.
All the best,
