The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins American League Division Series is shifting to Target Field. The Yankees took care of business in the Bronx, and head to Minnesota with a 2-0 series lead.

It started as a back-and-forth Game One. James Paxton was making his postseason debut. The second batter of the game, Jorge Polanco, gave Paxton a rude welcome. Polanco homered into the left-field seats and got the Twins an early 1-0 lead.

Nelson Cruz extended the Twins lead to 2-0 with a third-inning home run. The Yankees scored three times in the bottom of the third, and the Twins tied up the game in the top of the fifth. A Gleyber Torres two-run double put the Yankees ahead, and they never relinquished the lead.

DJ LeMahieu would add a solo home run, and three-run double to give the Yankees a 10-4 lead. After a dubious start, the Yankees were able to take Game One fairly easily.

Game Two

The Bronx Bombers were in full force on Saturday afternoon. Edwin Encarnación had an RBI single in the first staking the Yankees to a 1-0 lead. The third inning was where the Yankees showed off the fireworks. The Bombers scored seven times, capped off with a Didi Gregorius grand slam. Gregorius became the first Yankee shortstop to hit a postseason grand slam.

Masahiro Tanaka got the start. Tanaka had seven strikeouts over five innings. Tanaka and the Yankees were able to cruise to an 8-2 win, and 2-0 series lead.

New York Yankees On to Minnesota

Game three will be tonight at 8:40. Luis Severino will get the ball for the Yankees and Jake Odorizzi will try to keep the Twins season alive.

Severino will look to make up for his 2017 Wild Card Game start. Severino was only able to record one out in the Wild Card Game before the Twins forced him out of the game.

Odorizzi has faced the Yankees twice this season. He beat them in May going six innings and only allowing two hits. His July start was much different, as the Yankees handed him a loss. Odorizzi gave up nine runs in four innings.
