Welcome back to another week of your favorite sports column! The Mile High Review! Exclusively with Nuts and Bolts Sports! As this is likely to be the last Mile High Review of the year, there are two things I need to do. First, I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. No, there are no wars on Christmas here. Second, we’re gonna go through my Mile High sports team wishlist today. I will go through what I’d like for Christmas for each Denver team. So, let’s get it!
First, let’s start with some baseball. The sport formerly known as America’s favorite pastime. It’s been a while since we’ve talked about the Rockies, but they have important matters at hand. Since I’m limiting myself to one wish per team, I will make this one count. I wish for the Rockies to give Nolan Arenado the extension he deserves.
While this may seem like a simple request, it is not. On the 14th of December, the Rockies and Arenado have not come to terms. When it comes to players the Mile High City loves, Arenado might be number one. I know you’ve all seen the highlights of Nolan at the hot corner. Having seen him do it in person, I’m not ready to see the six-time Gold Glove, two-time Platinum Glove winner leave. Please, Rockies! Pay the man!
Now, for the Broncos. All I want is one thing from the Broncos. Really, I don’t think it’s a large request. I want it. You want it. All of the Mile High City wants it. Seriously, it’s time to fire Vance Joseph. I meant it. Enough is enough. Mr. Elway, how much longer will you subject your loyal fans to this?
Let me be clear, I don’t think VJ is a bad guy. No, not at all, but he’s not the right coach for this team. In truth, Elway should have made a move for Kyle Shanahan and paid Wade Phillips. However, the past is the past. Vance Joseph needs to be a part of that past. This team is too talented to be going to waste under this coach. I wish Vance Joseph luck wherever he coaches next. It just can’t be here.
My wish for the Avalanche is a big ask. It’s something the team has struggled with since they won the Stanley Cup many years ago. Consistency. All the Mile High City wants from the Avalanche is consistency. The Avalanche have the best line in the NHL. Their goalie is not half bad. I see no reason why they cannot make a deep playoff run this season and be a threat to take home the Cup.
Last, but not least, the Nuggets. This is more of a prayer than a wish. A desperate plea. For all that is holy, I just want the Nuggets to have some health in the second half of the season. Oh my goodness! I may be willing to let someone take money out of my check if it means the Nuggets are healthy moving forward.
So far this year, we’ve seen injuries to Gary Harris, Will Barton, and Paul Milsap. Paul Milsap was a model of health before he came to the Mile High City. Things are so bad that the Nuggets signed Swaggy P. Now, that’s bad! If that’s not bad, then I don’t know what bad is. Please, PLEASE let the Nuggets be healthy in the second half of the season.
Let’s recap the wishlist. First, we want an extension for Arenado. Then, we’d like consistency for the Avalanche. Next, we’d love for Vance Joseph to be fired. Finally, health for the Nuggets. What are your sports wishlists? Hit us up on Twitter and let us know!
