We can all pretend, we call all wish for an upset, but here are the facts.
The 2018 Alabama Crimson Tide, may be the best college football team in history.
In six games, they are averaging 56 points per game and they are giving up 16 points per game.
They are beating teams by 40 points per contest. The scary thing is, Nick Saban’s teams get better as the season goes on.
5 Things We Learned About Week 6 In College Football.
#5) The Texas Long Horns are back on the Map: #19 Texas defeated #7 Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown 48-45. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger was the player of the game. He threw for 314 yards, passed for 2 touchdowns and ran for three more. Oklahoma’s defensive coordinator, Mike Stoops, was promptly fired after the game. The Longhorns ran the same running play for Ehlinger inside the Red Zone and on almost every third and short and The Sooners never adjusted. Tom Herman has now led his team to 5 straight wins. They play #6 West Virginia on Nov 23rd. The Winner of that game should win the BIG-12. Texas is now ranked 9th in the country.
#4) Will Scott Frost and Chip Kelly win a game this year? Nebraska is O-5 for the first time in decade. For the first time since the 1940s, UCLA hasn’t won a game in their first five contests. Frost and Kelly are good coaches but the talent level at both Nebraska and UCLA is equivalent to Low Divison I. There is an old saying, “it is always darkest before the dawn.” Right now, it is a blackout in Westwood, California and Lincoln, Nebraska. Fans need to stay patient, both coaches will win again.
#3) LSU is…who we thought they were: #5 LSU lost to #22 Florida 27-19. I wrote last week, “LSU is not an elite team and they will lost at least 3 or 4 games”. Their schedule is brutal, they still have to play #2 Georgia, #1 Alabama and #22 Texas A&M. They will lose all three games.
#2) #16 Miami is on a roll: After losing 33-17 to LSU, Miami has won 5 in a row. The Hurricanes were down 27-7 to Florida State before coming back to win 28-27. Young quarterback,, N’Kosi Perry struggled completing 13 of 32 passes but he did enough to lead his team to victory. He threw for 4 touchdowns and took control in the 2nd half. This is a game that could unite this team and mature their quarterback. Miami is still in the thick of the National Championship race. They should play #4 Clemson in the ACC Championship game.
#1) Does #5 Notre Dame control their own destiny? The Fighting Irish are 6-0 and don’t play another ranked team for the remainder of their schedule. Notre Dame can go undefeated and still not make the Final Four Playoff.
Bonus Coverage:
#14 Stanford lost to Utah 40-21. Some so called “experts” had them going to the Final Four.
#12 UCF is 5-0, they were 13-0 last season. They could go undefeated for 2 years in a row. If that happens, they must get an invite to the Final Four playoff.
Texas A&M upset #13 Kentucky 20-14. Kentucky is now 5-1 and should make it to a quality Bowl Game.
Florida State is 3-3 under Willie Taggert. The Seminoles still have to play #4 Clemson, #20 North Carolina State, #5 Notre Dame and #14 Florida. Taggert is making $5 million per year. This was a terrible hire and FSU probably won’t make a bowl game. Taggert has a career record of 50-53.
