The No.1 Alabama Crimson Tide and No.3 Georgia Bulldogs dominated Cincinnati and Michigan in their semi-final’s matchup. They outscored their opponents, 61-17. There is a reason these two teams are playing in the National Championship, they are the 2 best teams in the country, by far.
Alabama’s offense can beat you several ways. Heisman Trophy Winner, Bryce Young, threw for over 4,500 passing yards and had 49 total touchdowns with only 5 interceptions. Young did not dominate against the Bearcats, but he threw for 181 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brian Robinson Jr. rushed for 206 yards as Alabama controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. They outgained Cincinnati, 482-218 yards.
Georgia has been the best team in college football since the summer. They are scoring 39 points per game and only giving up 9.6 points per contest. The Bulldogs starting the season with at 10-3 victory over Clemson. Their most competitive, game before losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship game, was at Tennessee in Week 11. They beat the Volunteers, 41-17. Their have physically manhandled opponents out all year with a dominant defense and good offense.
Prediction
On December 4th, 2021, Alabama defeated Georgia in the SEC Championship game, 41-24. Georgia was up 10-0 and Alabama outscored them, 41-14 the rest of the game. The Bulldogs had over a month to make adjustment and seek revenge on their SEC Rival. Bryce Young threw for 421 yards that day. Georgia’s defense is built to stop the run, but they struggle against the pass. I expect both these teams to be super aggressive with fake punts, reverses and trick plays. Every fiber of my being wants me to pick the Bulldogs and Kirby Smart but, I can not bet against Nick Saban in a Championship Game. Saban is 25-1 against his former assistant coaches. It will 26-1 after Monday.
